Tuesday, November 21, kickstarts Thanksgiving celebrations with a 3-hour early release! Woo-hoo! 🎉 But that’s not all – there’s no school for all students on Wednesday, November 22, as our super teachers have a work day. 📚
And then, let the feast begin! 🍽 The district will be closed on Thursday, November 23, and Friday, November 24, to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday! 🌽🍂 We hope your days are filled with laughter, delicious food, and moments of gratitude. 🧡

Indulge in a mouthwatering evening for a great cause at Red Robin's Spirit Night Fundraiser! Join us on Wednesday, December 6, as we "Raise some Cheddar for the Better" in support of McDougle Middle School PTSA. Here's how you can make a difference: Red Robin will generously contribute 20% of all Dine-in and To-Go food sales to our organization. It's as easy as savoring your favorite Red Robin meals!

hidden hill workshop

6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
Learn some of the barely-known chapters of local history through the lens of race, beginning with Jim Crow segregation and the first sit-ins on Franklin Street.
This is an interactive workshop where you will be given the opportunity to question and critically examine familiar narratives of Chapel Hill’s past through exercises involving primary source material from the Jackson Center archives, including oral histories, newspaper clippings, and photos.
Co-sponsored with The Marian Cheek Jackson Center for Saving and Making History.

Join us for a day of intellectual excitement and celebration of African American history and achievements. Teams of students will showcase their knowledge, competing in a friendly yet challenging atmosphere that highlights the significance of Black history. From notable figures and historical milestones to cultural contributions, participants will delve into a wide range of topics that shape our understanding of the past and present. This event is not just a competition but a celebration of diversity, unity, and the profound impact of African American contributions on our shared history. Save the date for a Saturday filled with learning, camaraderie, and the spirit of celebration at the Annual Black History Knowledge Bowl!

Run or walk representing McDougle at the Public School Foundation 5K for Education. The PSF 5K for Education celebrates public education and supports our students, our educators, and our schools. It is a great fun-filled community event that promotes health and fitness and school spirit!
School staff, families, and community members can register as a part of the McDougle Mustang school team! A portion of each adult registration will go directly to McDougle Middle School when you register.
SHOW OUR SCHOOL PRIDE!
The CHCCS school with the most registered participants will receive a catered lunch for their teachers! Cheer and support your McDougle Mustang for fun and bragging rights in the historic and memorable Mascot Lap. Run or walk past our school’s designated “Cheer Station” and show your school spirit with a wave or cheer!
